Teena Pleshek obtained her massage certification in 1990 from Blue Sky Educational Foundation in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She has taken many classes in massage and bodywork and found her calling with Neuromuscular Therapy. She has assisted and taught massage since 1990, and was Director of Education for Fox Valley School of Massage as well as the Massage Instructor and Musculoskeletal Anatomy Instructor.
In 1998 she attended her first LaStone Therapy workshop with then Mary (Hannigan) Nelson. In 1999 Mary invited her to become an instructor for LaStone Therapy. It was then that Teena began to incorporate LaStone and Neuromuscular Therapy into a treatment. Understanding that temperature of the stones does all the work for you, she realized that she would never have to strain her body to do deep tissue work again. She has taught throughout the United States, England, Canada, and Japan.
Teena brings a balance of humor and seriousness to the workshop, allowing the participant to be relaxed, and less stressed about learning. She is able to present the material in many ways so that every learning style is addressed. She welcomes you to enjoy your LaStone experience to its fullest.
DeepStone Therapy
DeepStone Therapy is a course open to massage therapists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, chiropractors, and nurses. This course will help the therapist understand the temperatures of the stones and how it affects muscle, tendon, ligaments, and fascia. The therapist will learn how to work smarter and more efficiently with the stones and the stones temperature.
You will learn how to do specific treatment for specific muscles or muscle group. DeepStone Therapy incorporates Neuromuscular Therapy with Geo-thermo-therapy, specifically cold temperatures. Participants should have anatomy training since this is muscle specific, although no deep tissue training is necessary for this course. Muscle anatomy will be covered each day during the workshop. Many past participants have said "I feel as though I have had a new body sculpted". This4 day course will cover the upper and lower body and the major muscles associated with them. On the 4th day you will incorporate your skills into a full body treatment.
