About Jill:

Jill Chinnery has been teaching LaStone Therapy workshops since 1998. Jill enjoys travelling to teach at resorts, spas, wellness centers and massage schools, particularly in the Caribbean where she lives.

Jill teaches Original Body, a four day 30 contact hour class and Simply Stones, a two day 18 contact hour class.

Jill`s teaching style is compassionate. "My intention is to create a nurturing, non-competitive environment wherein each person is supported to learn in their unique style and pace. I am not THE teacher...we are all teachers for one another. Each student brings their experience, talents, and hopefully an appreciation of the gifts of learning." Expect a relaxed, yet efficient flow to the workshop, a thorough presentation of the information in language that is easily digested, and enough practical work and repetition to anchor the learning.

In 1986 Jill earned a B.S. degree in Secondary Education at the University of Maine Farmington. She taught high school social studies for four years and has coached high school field hockey, basketball, dryland training for skiers, and track and field. She taught Swedish and Therapeutic Massage as well as Anatomy and Physiology at the Connecting Point School of Massage and Spa Therapies in Telluride, CO for four years. At the University of the Virgin Islands, Jill instituted a 40 hour Introduction to Massage Therapy class.

Jill has been a student of yoga since 1987. She taught yoga, meditation hikes, and movement therapies at the Peaks Resort and Spa in Telluride, where she was a massage and spa therapist for five years.

Toni Gallagher-Nurnberg, the first director of the AMTA`s National Sports Massage Team, was the director of the Mountain Institute of Massage (now the Connecting Point School of Massage and Spa Therapies) in Telluride, CO, where Jill graduated with honors in 1992. Jill has been an AMTA member and certified by the NCBTMB since 1992.

Jill`s continued education includes classes in Active Isolated Stretching, Aromatherapy, Ayurvedic Studies, Breema, Core Myofascial Massage, Cranial-Sacral, Hydrotherapy, Jin Shin Jyutsu, Magnified Healing, Melody`s Crystal Light Healing Methods, Shamanistic Studies, Sound Therapy, Spinal Reflex Analysis, and Sports and Orthopedic Massage.

She is a Master Reiki teacher and practitioner in the Usui Method. Jill is also a Certified Sportsmassage Therapist with the CORE Institute in Tallahassee, FL.

Jill has studied directly with Toni Gallagher-Nurnberg, Judith Jackson, Pratima Raichur, Tara Grodjesk, Elizabeth Deveaux, Reinhardt Bergel, George Kousaleos, Mary Nelson, The Himalayan Institute, Teena Pleshek, Daria, James Waslaski, Bryan Buckley, Frank Jerrell, D.C., and Aaron Mattes. In 2003 Jill worked with the Maine Sports Massage Team, volunteering post-event massage at the Beach2Beacon 10K, the Lobsterman Triathalon, and the Mount Desert Island Marathon. In addition, Jill`s massage therapy clients have included two Olympic gold medal winning downhill ski racers, a national champion snowboarder, professional mountain bike racers, runners of extreme mountain races, world class rock and ice climbers, a nationally ranked kayaker, yoga instructors, youth baseball players, and many recreational athletes.
